Celeste joins Deadlock as the fifth hero in the Old Gods, New Blood update

Meet The Dazzling Celeste–Deadlock’s fifth hero in the Old Gods, New Blood update.

When sunshine and rainbows collide with a deadly battlefield, you get Celeste–formally known as “The Dazzling Celeste”. She officially joins Deadlock’s expanding roster as the fifth most-voted hero in the Old Gods, New Blood update, coming after Venator. Here’s everything you need to know about the vibrant unicorn.

The story of Deadlock’s Celeste

Celeste immediately stands out in Deadlock's roster, thanks to her unicorn horn and flowing lavender hair. Unsurprisingly, she is a magical creature with formidable powers, wielding a wand as her primary weapon.

According to her lore, Celeste was once one of the main attractions at the Coney Island Side Show, where she hid in plain sight as visitors assumed her appearance was simply part of the act.

Her story highlights fellow performers such as Keruba the Mermaid, Blockhead Lenny, Chickenwing, and Ted–her closest friends and the family she came to cherish. However, Celeste was ultimately forced into action when one of her family members sold their soul to settle a gambling debt, pushing her onto the battlefield and risking exposure of her true identity to ‘The Patrons’.

Celeste’s abilities explained

Celeste boasts a spell-heavy kit with strong damage output and a reliable defensive tool. When performing her melee attack, her horn glows before she charges headfirst into her enemies.

Notably, Celeste has higher air control and lower gravity than the rest of the roster, allowing her to glide gracefully as part of her base kit, as reported by Deadlock Intel on X. Her wand also features a high attack speed, with a default maximum of eight shots before requiring a reload.

Below are Celeste’s abilities at maximum level:

  • Light Eater: Strike enemies in front of you in a cone, dealing Spirit Damage and granting Spirit Lifesteal for each enemy hit.
  • Dazzling Trick: Surround yourself with a barrier that increases movement speed. If the barrier breaks, it silences nearby enemies and reflects a portion of the damage back at them.
  • Radiant Daggers: Call down a beam of light at a targeted location, dealing Spirit Damage and amplifying your Spirit Damage for each hero hit.
  • Shining Wonder: Release an orb that bounces up to 18 times (eight by default), dealing Spirit Damage and slowing enemies on impact.

Deadlock’s Celeste prompted another player count record

Celeste’s arrival nearly brings Deadlock’s Old Gods, New Blood update to a close, with the sixth and final hero, Apollo, set to join the game this Thursday.

Following Celeste’s release, Deadlock has reached yet another player count milestone. Earlier today, the game recorded 125,665 concurrent players on Steam–the highest figure since its “launch” peak over a year ago.

This surge has pushed Deadlock into the top five most-played games on Steam, surpassing major titles such as PUBG and Marvel Rivals, while trailing behind Rust, Arc Raiders, Dota 2, CS2. For a game still in its invite-only alpha phase and not yet officially released, Deadlock is rapidly climbing the charts and building an impressively strong player base.
