Bethesda’s classics head to Nintendo Switch 2 with three confirmed releases

Three classic Bethesda titles are set to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 throughout the year.

Announced during February's Nintendo Switch Partner Direct, Bethesda is bringing several of its iconic titles to the Nintendo Switch 2, and has revealed a roadmap for upcoming releases. Nintendo Switch 2 owners can look forward to Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered arriving throughout the year.

Bethesda x Nintendo roadmap revealed

The first Bethesda title to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 is the 2015 action RPG Fallout 4, arriving on 25 February. The game will be released as the Anniversary Edition, which Bethesda describes as the most complete version of the title. It includes all six official add-ons–the Far Harbor, Automatron, and Nuka-World story expansions, as well as the Contraptions Workshop, Vault-Tec Workshop, and Wasteland Workshop–alongside more than 150 pieces of Creation Club content.

Pre-orders are available now, with a physical code-in-a-box edition set to release on 28 April. On the same day, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition will also receive a physical code-in-a-box release for Switch 2.

Next, the 2024 adventure Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will arrive on Switch 2 on 13 May. Pre-orders are currently available for both the physical game card at retail and the digital version via the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo Switch 2 users can also look forward to the story DLC, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants, which will be available on 13 May.

Meanwhile, the third confirmed title, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, is still in development and does not yet have an official release date, though it is expected to arrive later this year. Originally released in 2006 and remastered last year, it will mark the first time Nintendo Switch owners can explore the legendary province of Cyrodiil.

Nintendo Switch 2 users dissatisfied with Bethesda offerings

Despite the announcement, the line-up has received mixed reactions from the community, with some fans describing the partnership as underwhelming.

A quick glance at the announcement’s comment section reveals widespread disappointment, particularly regarding the selection of older-generation titles. Some fans have expressed a desire for more ambitious releases, while others are hoping for additional remasters rather than ports of existing games.

“Where is Fallout 3 and New Vegas Remastered?” one user commented under the reveal trailer.

Another quoted the Nintendo Direct presentation, writing:

‘“We hope you enjoy the journey.” The exact same journey we’ve already been on for almost 15 years now!’

That said, some players remain optimistic, suggesting Bethesda may be taking a cautious approach with its initial releases on Switch 2, leaving room for bigger titles to arrive over time.
