Larian Studios is back working on the Divinity franchise.
One of the biggest mysteries at The Game Awards 2025 has finally been cleared up, revealing the story behind the intricate statue Geoff Keighley had been teasing for days. Divinity is the next project from Larian Studios, the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3. Its reveal opened with an on-stage performance depicting villagers being pulled away by a mysterious force.
This was followed by a teaser of the game. You can find the full reveal here:
Geoff Keighley mentions that Divinity is not only the newest game from Larian Studios, but it’s the studio’s “biggest game ever, yes, even larger than Baldur’s Gate 3.” Whatever that means, it’s something that fans will soon discover in the coming months.
What is Divinity?
Divinity is Larian Studios’ long-running RPG series, and every main game in the franchise has been developed and released by Larian since the first title launched in 2002. Across six instalments, the series has constantly reinvented itself: Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity were Diablo-style action RPGs; Divinity 2: Ego Draconis shifted to a third-person format closer to Dragon Age or The Witcher; Divinity: Dragon Commander detoured into strategy; and the Original Sin games returned to classic CRPG design most similar to Baldur’s Gate 3.
All entries share the world of Rivellon, but each one is set years or even centuries apart, making them effectively standalone stories.
A release window has not yet been revealed.
