Time to dust off Skyrim on Switch 2 and see what’s new for the Dragonborn.
Skyrim has added another platform to its long list of new homes. Bethesda announced on its official website on 10 December (SGT) that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the familiar adventure to Nintendo’s updated hardware with a round of technical enhancements, and all Anniversary Edition content included.
Skyrim arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 with upgraded features
The Anniversary Edition is now live on the eShop as a digital download, arriving with the base game, all three expansions: Dawnguard, Dragonborn and Hearthfire, and the full range of Creation Club additions. Players can view the complete feature list after completing the standard date-of-birth check here.
All content included in this edition mirrors the original Anniversary Edition launch from 11.11.2021, and Bethesda retains the ESRB Mature 17+ rating for the Switch 2 version.
Pricing, upgrade routes, and how to access the Switch 2 version
There are several ways to pick up the Anniversary Edition on Nintendo Switch 2, depending on what players already own. New players can purchase the full version for US$59.99, while those who have The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the original Nintendo Switch can upgrade on Switch 2 for US$19.99. As stated in the announcement, “If you own the physical game on Nintendo Switch, you will need to access the Anniversary Edition Upgrade through the in-game menu.”
Players who already have the Anniversary Edition on Nintendo Switch can download it on Nintendo Switch 2 at no additional cost. The announcement also notes that “All versions are available exclusively as digital downloads.”
To access the Switch 2 version, players must first install their original copy on the new device, either by transferring the data, downloading it from the eShop or inserting the physical cartridge before launching the game. An eShop banner will appear on the main menu, and pressing “Y” opens the store page where the Anniversary Edition can be purchased or downloaded. This will be installed as a new application on the player’s Nintendo Switch 2 console.

The Switch 2 version arrives with hardware-focused enhancements, including:

Players can also unlock several Legend of Zelda-inspired items like the Master Sword, Hylian Shield and Champion’s Tunic by exploring the Throat of the World in-game. These are included automatically with every Anniversary Edition purchase or upgrade.
