Hollow Knight Silksong rolls out second patch on public beta for bug fixes and more

The patch targets some of Silksong’s most persistent glitches.

Team Cherry has rolled out the second Hollow Knight: Silksong patch to Steam’s public beta branch, continuing to smooth over rough edges since launch. While the first update tackled what developer believed were “critical issues”, the second patch focuses on clearing frustrating gameplay bugs, softlocks, and inconsistencies that disrupted the flow of Pharloom.

The second Silksong patch will focus on gameplay

This isn’t a patch about rebalancing bosses or softening difficulty, instead, it’s about ironing out quirks that interrupted otherwise challenging but fair encounters. Several fixes stand out as particularly important for players:

  • Bosses escaping their arenas: Savage Beastfly in the Far Fields and Shrine Guardian Seth could sometimes sink below lava or drift out of bounds. These bugs left players either unable to finish fights or forced to restart entirely. Update 2 ensures these battles stay locked in their arenas.
  • Softlocks in progression: A bug with the Shaman Binding caused hard progress halts if players tried to transition through a bottom exit, while cocoons occasionally spawned in unreachable spots, blocking players from recovering rosaries. These fixes are essential for keeping runs from collapsing through no fault of the player.
  • Combat quirks and inconsistencies: Dying at the same time as a boss could cause death sequences to desync or glitch, robbing players of a clean victory. Volt Filament multipliers weren’t applying properly to certain Silk Skills, undermining builds. Both issues have now been corrected, making combat outcomes feel more reliable.
  • Consumable and tool fixes: Items like Plasmium Phial and Flea Brew sometimes failed to restore properly at benches, a serious issue in Steel Soul runs where resources are limited. Multihitter tools such as the Conchcutter also weren’t counting break progress as intended, which made farming and certain encounters feel off-balance.
  • Atmosphere and narrative flow: Some NPCs weren’t triggering cursed hint dialogue, and memory orbs could replay visual effects incorrectly. These subtle bugs chipped away at immersion, and their fixes help maintain the world’s consistency.

The second patch is currently available only through Steam’s public beta branch. Team Cherry has said that “a few more additions and tweaks” will be made before the patch moves to the main build. Players who want early access to the fixes can opt in via Steam’s beta settings, though the build may be less stable than the live version.

Here’s where you can find more details on the public beta branch.
