An Animal Crossing-like Pokémon game? It’s more likely than you’d think.
The Pokémon Company has officially announced Pokémon: Pokopia, an all-new Pokémon game set in the life simulator genre. This unique entry in the Pokémon franchise follows a solitary Ditto, who morphs into humanoid form to make friends with other Pokémon and build up a small town.
Here’s a trailer:
Pokémon: Pokopia announced with Ditto as protagonist
The Pokémon Company has officially announced the next entry in the Pokémon franchise. Pokémon: Pokopia is a life simulator game that takes after video games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, following a Ditto as it makes a life for itself on a small island.
In this boxy world, players will step into the shoes of Ditto as it meets new Pokémon on the island, and gains abilities to build up its home. The trailer above showcases this gameplay element by having Ditto learn how to grow plants from Bulbasaur, and subsequently water them from Squirtle.
The rest of the trailer focuses on the game’s town-building elements. Players can plant entire gardens, build up houses, and make friends with a swathe of Pokémon–though the full spread of their variety has not been confirmed. Also, is Snorlax blocking the road over there? Typical.
Pokémon: Pokopia will launch in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2.
