Invincible VS to feature "between 15 and 20" playable characters at launch with story mode

Invincible VS’ playable roster is shaping up (Image: Skybound).

Invincible VS, the upcoming fighting game adaptation of Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible, will have up to 20 playable characters at launch. In an interview with The Gamer, the game’s art director Dan Eder confirmed “between 15 and 20 for the launch roster,” along with “an original story” for one of the other game modes.

Invincible VS will have between “15 and 20” playable characters at launch

A recent interview with Invincible VS’ art director Dan Eder has shed more light on the game’s contents. For starters, Eder revealed that while he can’t confirm the game’s precise number of playable characters at launch, he was willing to say that the number lies “between 15 and 20.”

Eight characters have already been announced for the game’s roster:

  • Atom Eve
  • Battle Beast
  • Bulletproof
  • Invincible
  • Lucan
  • Omni-Man
  • Rex Splode
  • Thula

The game adapts Amazon Prime Video’s animated TV series Invincible, which itself adapts the comic book series of the same name. Invincible VS’ creators “lean more on the show for the most part,” according to Eder, but that doesn’t mean comic book are being left out of the picture.

The art director said:

“[...] we do have certain elements that have not yet been shown there. Either characters or certain things that are going to be shown in the upcoming seasons. We want them to be represented in our game. We are fully immersed in both the show and the comics.”

That means the game could feature playable characters who have not been introduced in the TV series yet, of which there are quite a few. These characters could also be featured in other game modes, which The Gamer has confirmed will include a single-player mode with “an original story.” According to Eder, Invincible writer Robert Kirkman was involved in the story’s inception.

Invincible VS launches sometime in 2026, with no firm release date set yet.
