Jurassic Park Survival shows signs of life with new featurette, but still no gameplay

Jurassic Park: Survival has resurfaced after its 2023 announcement.

Back in 2023, developer Saber Interactive announced that it was working on a horror-tinged action-adventure game based on the first Jurassic Park film. The game, entitled Jurassic Park: Survival, has shown no signs of life since its original announcement. That is, until Saber dropped a new featurette for the game this week, diving into its aesthetic faithfulness to the original movie.

Here’s the video:

Jurassic Park: Survival resurfaces after two years of silence with a dev diary

Saber Interactive’s upcoming action-adventure video game Jurassic Park: Survival has an ambitious goal: it wants to put players in the shoes of Jurassic Park (1993)’s panicked protagonists, as they fend off vicious dinosaurs in a broken-down theme park. Instead of being a straightforward adaptation of the first movie, however, the game takes place just one day after the film.

The first-person game follows an InGen scientist named Dr. Maya Joshi, who becomes stranded on the island of Isla Nublar. A recently-released dev diary confirmed that Saber is attempting to recreate the island, and its broken-down dinosaur theme park, with as much in-game detail as possible. To do this, the developers sought access to original props from the 1993 movie, including dinosaur eggs.

The video also showcases early animations of some of the game’s dinosaurs, which are meant to be faithful to their original appearances. That includes the T-rex, along with a few raptors–which one of Saber’s developers confirmed that players will get to meet in a rather intense in-game sequence.

Granted, the animation snippets and pre-alpha footage shown off in the video might prove underwhelming to fans after two whole years of silence. This video proves, however, that the game is still moving along in development–even if it’s not ready to drop a gameplay trailer just yet.

Jurassic Park: Survival does not have a release date.
