Xbox ROG Ally handheld allegedly launching in October, with Gamescom announcement incoming

It looks like the newest handheld console by ASUS ROG and Xbox is coming out very soon.

ASUS' Xbox-branded ROG Ally handheld, Xbox ROG Ally and its high-spec sibling, the ROG Ally X, are allegedly set to launch in Europe on 16 October, according to a new leak.

The information comes from Dealabs' Billbil-kun, a leaker with a strong track record. The official reveal is supposedly scheduled to take place during Microsoft’s Gamescom 2025 showcase.

Pre-orders are said to go live on 20 August for both handhelds

The leak claims pre-orders for the Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X will supposedly begin on 20 August, the same day Microsoft is expected to host its Gamescom showcase at 2PM BST.

ASUS had previously confirmed that both handhelds would launch this "holiday" in select countries, including the UK and US, but stopped short of giving a concrete date.

The standard Xbox ROG Ally is said to feature an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, while the Ally X is allegedly built for "the most demanding players" and includes an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip alongside 24GB of high-speed RAM.

Pricing was also included in the leak, with the ROG Ally reportedly set at €599 (around US$697), and the Ally X at €899 (roughly US$1047). Both devices will run on Windows 11 and offer a full-screen Xbox interface, complete with an aggregated library that supports games from platforms like Steam, Battle.net, and GOG. Xbox Play Anywhere titles will also be compatible.

ASUS's official site highlights that the ROG Xbox Ally devices are powered by Windows 11 and provide access to your entire PC game library, from Xbox and other major stores alike, offering seamless access to your installed games, Xbox Play Anywhere titles, and cloud‑saved progress.

If the leaked date holds, an official announcement is expected at Gamescom 2025, marking a significant expansion of Xbox's third-party hardware strategy.

For now, all eyes are on ASUS’ Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X, with official details supposedly coming soon at Gamescom.
