Jurassic World: Archipelago brings dinosaurs to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
A new expansion pack is coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to let players do a little light dinosaur sightseeing. Developer Orbx has announced Jurassic World: Archipelago, an expansion it’s developing for the flight simulator that adds iconic dinosaur islands from the film franchise to the in-game world.
These islands will also host a variety of dinosaurs, including the brachiosaurus, mosasaurus, and of course, the tyrannosaurus rex.
Here’s a trailer for the expansion:
Jurassic World: Archipelago adds dinosaurs to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Dinosaurs are coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. That’s right, the nigh-photorealistic flight simulator is getting ancient prehistoric creatures from the Jurassic Park film franchise. These dinosaurs will be scattered across six islands nearby Costa Rica, and players will be able to spot them during flybys or in-game challenges.
Game developer Orbx developed the expansion with Universal Products & Experiences, which takes place right before the events of the first Jurassic World movie in 2015. That means the Jurassic World park on Isla Nublar is fully operational, with machinery churning in its attractions and monorails to support its avalanche of visitors.
Isla Nublar, Isla Sorna (the setting of The Lost World: Jurassic Park), and more locations from the franchise can be seen in this expansion, fully detailed and recreated to resemble their movie counterparts faithfully. Players can land at these locations or fly between the islands while doing aviation challenges.
The expansion lists the following featured dinosaurs and reptiles, with more to be confirmed later:
- Apatosaurus
- Brachiosaurus
- Dimorphodon
- Gallimimus
- Mosasaurus
- Pteranodon
- Stegosaurus
- Tyrannosaurus rex
- Velociraptor, and more to be confirmed
Jurassic World: Archipelago does not have a firm release date yet, but Orbx states that the expansion will be available around the end of August 2025/beginning of September 2025.
