Battlefield Studios has previewed explosive combat in Battlefield 6’s multiplayer modes.
Electronic Arts hosted a multiplayer reveal for Battlefield 6 this week, diving into the first-person shooter’s chaotic gameplay, large-scale destruction, and many game modes. The publisher also confirmed open beta dates for the game, providing early access to multiplayer modes this month.
Here’s the multiplayer reveal trailer:
Battlefield 6 confirms new features and returning class system
Battlefield 6 is set in the year 2027, bringing the franchise back to a current-day setting. A high-profile assassination has caused multiple European countries to leave NATO, while an army named Pax Armata attempts to fill the power vacuum. In the midst of all this chaos, players step into all-new Theatres of War.
Battlefield Studios features a “Kinesthetic Combat System,” a term the developer uses to refer to various new movement and gunplay features. That includes the ability to drag and revive teammates on the go, mount weapons on walls, peek around corners, and more.
After taking a brief break from the class system to introduce playable specialists in Battlefield 2042, Battlefield Studios is returning to the Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer classes in Battlefield 6. These four roles feature unique weapons and gadgets for players to take into battle, as well as new ways to allow them to destroy and reshape combat zones.
One example of the game’s destruction capabilities that the developer has already shown off is simply taking a sledgehammer and smashing your way into a lower floor. After all, why take the stairs in a Battlefield game?
Battlefield 6’s multiplayer modes and maps
Battlefield 6 features a colourful variety of multiplayer modes. This includes classic game modes like Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush, which have been leaked in previous betas for the title. Additionally, the usual spread of shooter modes like Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Squad Deathmatch, and Domination, will be included.
A new mode called Escalation is also coming, which has two teams battle to capture control points in a map. Battlefield Portal is also returning, allowing players to create their own maps and game modes, following its inclusion in Battlefield 2042.
Nine maps are coming to Battlefield 6 at launch, including:
- Siege of Cairo–Cairo
- Iberian Offensive–Gibraltar
- Liberation Peak–Tajikistan
- Empire State–New York City
- Operation Firestorm (returning from Battlefield 3)
- Saints Quarter–Gibraltar’s Old Town
