During its six-year stint in competitive Dota 2, Tundra won nine Tier 1 tournaments, including The International 2022.
London-based esports organisation
Tundra Esports announced on Monday (1 June) that it will be departing the Dota 2 scene after six years in competition and transferring its powerhouse roster to
1win. During its time in Dota 2, Tundra won nine Tier 1 tournaments, including The International (TI) 2022.
“After an unforgettable and successful six years in Dota 2 with the legendary team, Tundra Esports is preparing to begin a new chapter,” Tundra said in its announcement of their departure from Dota 2.
“Our team brought passion, brilliance, joy, and excitement to millions of fans around the world, creating memories that will forever be part of Tundra's history.”
Tundra's roster–namely Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko,
Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov,
Neta “33” Shapira,
Matthew “Ari” Walker,
Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon, and coach
David “MoonMeander” Tan–will stick together and will play under the banner of 1win moving forward.
Why did Tundra Esports leave Dota 2?
Tundra did not officially disclose its reasons for departing the competitive Dota 2 scene, with their decision to leave at this time made even more surprising when considering the team has been the most successful squad in the ongoing 2025-2026 season.
Tundra had four Tier 1 tournament titles to its name this season, namely BLAST Slam IV and BLAST Slam V in November and December 2025 as well as DreamLeague Season 28 and ESL One Birmingham 2026 in March. Tundra's success this season also earned them a direct invite to TI 2026, with the direct invite belonging to the roster and remaining with them despite their transfer to 1win.
While Tundra did not state the reason for their departure, other organisations that also left Dota 2 this season did so. Norwegian organisation HEROIC announced its exit from Dota 2 in early May, citing sustainability issues as the primary reason for the disbandment of its Dota 2 division.
