Aurora Gaming part ways with Oli and TORONTOTOKYO ahead of major qualifiers

Aurora Gaming has parted ways with Oli and TORONTOTOKYO ahead of DreamLeague Season 28 qualifiers.

Ahead of the packed Dota 2 qualifier season, prominent Eastern European (EEU) team Aurora Gaming has undergone significant roster changes. The organisation has parted ways with position 5 player Chon Kien “Oli” Chan after just over three months together. Meanwhile, The International (TI) 2021 champion and team offlaner Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek has opted to take a break from competitive Dota 2, departing the organisation entirely.

With two roster spots now vacant, Aurora Gaming is left with Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko, Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman, and Miroslaw “Mira” Kolpakov. The organisation has yet to announce replacements for positions 3 and 5, though announcements are expected soon, as Aurora is set to compete in the DreamLeague Season 28 qualifier tomorrow, 9 January.

Oli wraps up a brief stint with Aurora Gaming

Oli joined Aurora Gaming last October, replacing Nikita “Panto” Balaganin, who went on to join Team Spirit for the new season.

The Malaysian support player is one of the most accomplished in the region, having competed for top-tier lineups such as Invictus Gaming and Talon Esports. His achievements include winning the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 and securing a third-place finish at the Lima Major 2023.

In 2025, Oli played for China’s Yakult Brothers for several months, achieving respectable results. Following TI 2025, he joined Aurora Gaming’s roster, entering the EEU scene for the first time alongside Indonesian midlaner Mikoto.

However, his time with the team was short-lived, as he departed after just three months marked by underwhelming performances.

TORONTOTOKYO leaves after nearly a year with Aurora

While Oli’s departure comes after a brief tenure, TORONTOTOKYO’s exit leaves a far greater impact on the team. The Russian TI 2021 champion has decided to take a short break from competitive play over the coming months and has left Aurora Gaming entirely, as he is absent from both Aurora’s active and inactive roster.

TORONTOTOKYO is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished EEU players in modern Dota 2. He captured The International 2021 title with Team Spirit before leading BetBoom Team to a consistent run of top-six finishes at major events.

Since joining Aurora in February 2025, he continued to guide the team to strong placements, although Aurora closed out 2025 on a disappointing note with a bottom-tier finish at DreamLeague Season 27.
