Following a rough start to the new Dota 2 competitive season, OG has opted for a roster reset.
It is yet another devastating period for the iconic Dota 2 team,
OG. Following a disappointing start to the 2025/2026 Dota competitive season, the two-time The International (TI) winning organisation has released its Dota 2 roster less than a month after announcing the lineup.
“After a difficult start to the season, we have made the tough decision to part ways with our current active Dota 2 roster,” OG posted across its social media.
With this disbandment, OG parts ways with Indji “Shad” Lub,
Igor “Stojkov” Stojkov,
Mihailo “MikSa`” Jovanovic, and
Tamir “daze” Tokpanov–all of whom are now free to explore new opportunities. While Shad, Miksa, and daze had been part of the team for several months, Stojkov was only recently introduced to the lineup, joining OG last September.
Their disbandment follows a brutally rough performance during the qualifiers at the start of the new season. The team participated in five major qualifiers and failed to advance in any of them. The final nail in the coffin came when OG fell to several lesser-known teams in DreamLeague Division 2 Season 1, failing to secure a slot for DreamLeague Season 27.
OG resets its Dota 2 roster after another devastating period
OG is known for its deep and storied legacy in Dota 2–having produced many successful results and nurtured some of the most significant players in the game’s history. However, in recent years, OG has frustratingly struggled to achieve notable results, leading to a constant and chaotic period of roster shuffles.
In the past few months alone, OG has played with Ivan “Kidaro” Bondarev and
Daniel “Stormstormer” Schoetzau, reintroduced players like Shad and Stojkov, officially signed
Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos only to part ways with him two weeks later, and even brought
Johan “N0tail” Sundstein out of retirement to play for the team. While that’s already a mouthful, it barely captures the chaotic state of OG’s roster situation this year.
The relentless roster changes stem from OG’s ongoing struggles and gradual decline. Once the greatest Dota 2 team in the world–following their back-to-back TI victories in 2018 and 2019–OG has since fallen from Tier 1 contention to struggling in Tier 2 events, and now, even faltering in Tier 3 competitions.
Most recently, OG placed 9th–12th in the first edition of DreamLeague Division 2, a US$50,000 Tier 3 tournament, losing to several informal stacks and lesser-known teams. This marks arguably the lowest point in OG’s competitive Dota 2 history, making the organisation’s decision to start anew more than warranted.
OG to announce a new Dota 2 roster
Fortunately for fans, OG remains committed to the Dota 2 scene. In its announcement, OG revealed: “This isn't the end of the road for us in Dota 2.”
While some have already speculated that OG may sign one of the region’s promising stacks, it remains to be seen what the organisation has planned.
