South America is down to two teams for the playoffs stage at The International 2023 after beastcoast landed at the bottom of Group C.
South America had a total of four teams making the trip to Seattle, United States for TI12, but after Thunder Awaken were first to be eliminated from the competition, beastcoast followed shortly after.
beastcoast got seeded in Group C at TI12 and had a good start on the first day of games, landing two draw scores. But, heading into the second day, the SA outfit didn’t find a single victory. They lost 0-2 to LGD Gaming and Gaimin Gladiators, who are now at the top of the top of the group and have secured their presence in the playoffs stage.
TI12 Group C
beastcoast’s early elimination from TI12 is one the biggest surprises of the group stage. They secured their spot at TI12 after dominating their region through the DPC regional leagues. However, when it came to LANs , beastcoast were outshined by Evil Geniuses, who reached the top 6 on home soil at Lima Major and the top 4 at ESL One Berlin Major.
In the last couple of months before TI12, beastcoast had mixed results, placing top 8 at the last Major of the year, then being eliminated in the bottom 4 at Riyadh Masters 2023, but also going in the top 4 at BetBoom Dacha.
TI12 finished for them with a hard-felt defeat at the hands of Gaimin Gladiators, the best-performing team of the year and the main favourites at the Aegis of Champions this year.
While beastcoast’s story in Seattle comes to an end, the group stage matches will continue through the weekend with playoffs seeding series for the 16 teams left in the competition.
