Liquid and BOOM out, Armel triumphs over Sumail at ESL One Malaysia

Team Liquid and BOOM bid farewell after the group stage concludes, Armel triumphs over Sumail 1v1 mid tie-breaker at ESL One Malaysia 2022.

ESL One Malaysia 2022 has already wrapped up the group stage with some exciting action and is now looking to head into the playoffs.

ESL One Malaysia Group Stage

After just one day in the group stage, Valve dropped the new (and pretty big) patch on the teams —changing up strategies and the balance.

Teams tested Primal Beast in competitive matches and the rosters that could adjust or tend to shine on midlane seemed to come out ahead in the end.

Earlier today Talon Esports and Alliance were sent packing as the bottom two teams for Group A.

Shortly after, Group B sent their two teams home —Team Liquid and BOOM

BOOM was just hot off their championship title win at Gamers Galaxy just last weekend, but the momentum and high didn't carry them far in Genting.

Team Liquid continues to seem lackluster in their performances and will need to take a serious look at the new patch and their synergy before the upcoming TI 2022 qualifiers starting on September 3rd. They will have to compete in a stacked region for one official and two Last Chance Qualifier spots.

ESL One Malaysia 1v1 Mid Tie-Breaker

To settle the tie between Fnatic and Nigma Galaxy, ESL implemented the old-school way to settle things in a Dota game. The 1v1 Mid challenge.

The stakes were high and there was just as much pressure as there was hype for this. The winner of the two teams would gain the upper bracket advantage.

Each team picked their representative to play Shadow Fiend 1v1 mid —Syed "SumaiL" Hassan for Nigma and Armel "Armel" Tabios for Fnatic.

With three tangos to start Armel claimed the first kill and eventually the matchup, giving Fnatic the upper bracket seed for the playoffs.

With four teams eliminated, the tie-breaker sorted and the group stage over, the action continues today with the two upper bracket semi-finals.

Starting this coming Friday, August 26, the action will move to Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands in front of a live audience. GosuGamers will be on site to bring you unique content from the event, so make sure you tune in over the weekend.
