South America DPC standings: Thunder Predator lead the pack

South America Division I regional league has only two tickets to offer for the first Major of the 2021-22 Dota Pro Circuit and two teams have already taken a lead at the halfway mark of the Winter Tour.

South America Division I

  • 1st place team is qualified to the Major Playoffs
  • 2nd place team is qualified to the Major Group Stage
  • Bottom two teams are relegated to Division II for the next tour
  • Remaining teams stay in current division for the next tour

Thunder Predator lost their entire line-up during the post TI10 shuffle, but judging on their results so far in the SA Division I league, it looks like they ended up on the better side of the bargain when they signed the full roster of NoPing e-sports. The five players now competing under the TP banner haven’t even made it to TI10, which might actually be what motivates them to push harder right from the get-go.

After three weeks of league matches, Thunder Predator stand at the top of the ladder with a clean 4-0 series score, and 8-0 game record. They are followed closely by beastcoast, who played three series so far and haven’t dropped a single game either.

Unfortunately for three other teams, the new year will begin with a battle for staying in the first division rather than for a ticket to the first Major of 2022. Lava, who feature the five former Thunder Predator players are second to last in the standings with 1 win and 2 defeats, tied with Hokori, while SG esports are on a 0-4 losing streak at the very bottom of SA Division I league.

South America Division II

  • Top two teams are qualified to Division I for the next tour
  • Bottom two teams are eliminated
  • Remaining teams stay in the current division for the next tour

For the eight teams competing through Division II, the stake is promotion to Division I of the next tour. They don’t have any DPC points to earn while in the second division, nor can they dream of a Major spot until promotion.

With that in mind, Infinity, who landed in Division II by relegating in the last regional league season of the previous DPC, are now front runners with 4-0 series score and a clean 8-0 game record.

Balrogs and Gorillaz-Pride are tied for second place in Division II with an identical 3-1 series score and 6-3 game record. At the bottom of the standings are Inverse, with one win and three losses and Unknown Team, who are on a 0-4 losing streak and in real danger of getting eliminated from SA regional leagues.

South American teams will resume Winter Tour action on January 6, when both divisions will play their first official matches of 2022.
