Southeast Asia teams have been very active in the post TI10 shuffle, which makes the first tour of the 2021-22 Dota Pro Circuit pretty exciting to watch.
At the beginning of the season, BOOM Esports were gearing up for SEA Division II hoping that the four new additions to the roster would make the difference and bring the much-wanted promotion to the first division.
Their journey completely changed days before the Wintour Tour was about to begin, when Valve banned the OMEGA Esports players and allowed BOOM to join Division I although they lost the fifth-seventh place tiebreaker in the previous season.
With Christmas coming early for them, BOOM Esports went on crushing the competition to end the year at the top of the standings. They are 4-0 in series overall and 8-0 in game record in the DPC Winter Tour. However, SEA has three spots to offer for the first Major of the 2021-22 Dota Pro Circuit and BOOM’S intermediary results do not guarantee them a ticket just yet.
Southeast Asia Division I
- 1st place team is qualified to the Major Playoffs
- 2nd place team is qualified to the Major Group Stage
- 3rd place team is qualified to the Major Wild Card
- Bottom two teams are relegated to Division II for the next tour
- Remaining teams stay in the current Division for the next tour
BOOM Esports’ final three matches will be held against Execration, TNC Predator and T1, and possibly one more victory can get them to the Major. But while they held the most battles through the first half of the Winter Tour, T1, who are right behind them in the standings, played just two series, both won with clean 2-0 victories, and are definitely the biggest threat for finishing top three in the region.
Southeast Asia Division II
- Top two teams are qualified to Division I for the next tour
- Bottom two teams are eliminated
- Remaining teams stay in the current division for the next tour
Talon Esports entered the Dota 2 scene in the post TI10 shuffle and turned all eyes on them when they announced Tal "Fly" Aizik embarking on a mission to lead the team from Division II matches. Without a doubt, Fly’s goal is to ensure a top two finish so the team gets promoted to the first Division of the Spring Tour. However, the competition even in Division II is tougher than anticipated. So far, Talon sit only in the fifth place with just one victory after three series held. They lost to both Nigma Galaxy SEA and Polaris Esports, who are for now tied for first place with a 4-0 series record.
Winter Tour games will resume on January 5, with both Division I and Division II playing the first matches of the new year.
