Rich Campbell returns from retirement for WePlay AniMajor

Rich Campbell returns to the Dota 2 scene with the WePlay AniMajor where he will join an exquisite talent list beginning June 2.

Rich stepped away from desk appearances last year in August to better focus on a personal project, which at that time was still unknown. He announced his retirement during WePlay Omega League, one of the first tournaments that gathered the broadcast talent in a studio set up during the pandemic.

A couple of weeks after his retirement, Rich was ready to officially announce One True King, OTK in short, an organization he founded along with Asmongold, Mizkif, Esfand and Tips Out. Focused on content creation and competitive World of Warcraft, OTK is now a fully established and well-received organization by the community, which most likely gives Rich the space to return to the spotlights.

He will be co-hosting the AniMajor along with Jorien "Sheever" van der Heijden, Jake "SirActionSlacks" Kanner and Mira "EpheyDota" Al Hroob.

WePlay have plenty of other surprises in store for the Dota 2 fans. The talent line-up features a total of 13 commentators and analysts working to make this event a memorable experience for everyone.

Running from June 2 to the 13th of the month, the AniMajor will mark the first Major desk appearance for Robson "TeaGuvnor" Merritt, who has been doing tremendous work through the past year in the many online tournament formats and most recently has been a part of the ESL and DreamLeague broadcast talent for Europe and CIS regional leagues.

WePlay AniMajor is the second and the last Major tournament of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit. It will be held June 2-13 in Kyiv, Ukraine, without live audience due to the current pandemic situation, but all the 18 teams that qualified through the second season of regional leagues will be onsite to duke it out for the trophy, a share of the $500,000 prize pool and 2,700 DPC points. The AniMajor will be the last chance for the teams playing in Kyiv to lock themselves in for The International 10, which was confirmed by Valve to be held August 5-15 in Stockholm, Sweden with $40,018,195 on the line.
