Signify: The new SEA team on the block

Team Signify backed by COBX Gaming is the second Indian team after Entity Gaming to recruit players from abroad

Although Indian teams have been showing some development towards making it big in the global scene, they've always fallen short. The community is always on the lookout for the next big team that will make it to the regional qualifiers of a major tournament and it seems their prayes might just have been answered! COBX Gaming, who recently hosted a Rs. 1,000,000 (around $15,000) Dota 2 tournament in India, have announced their Dota 2 squad that will consist of players from India, Philippines and Australia. The roster for the team is:

Philippines Andrei ‘Skemberlu’ Ong - At just 17 years of age, Skemberlu is the youngest member of the team.  He has represented some known names in the SEA region such as Acion Arena and Arcanys.

India Raunak ‘Crowley’ Sen - Crowley has been one of India’s most popular and successful gamers. He has played for some of the best Indian Dota squads like Oblique Gaming, Neckbreak, Invisible Wings and Entity Esports.

Australia AJ ‘Xrag’ Casanada - He has been a top tier player in the Australian scene for a while now, having played for teams such as Can’t Say Wips and Da Teletubbies (DTT). Known mainly for playing from the mid lane, Xrag will be switching up his role.

India Moin ‘No_Chanc3’ Ejaz - Arguably India’s most loved player and the first known Indian to reach 7000 matchmaking points, No_Chanc3’s name is synonymous with Indian Dota. No_Chanc3 has previously played for Indian line ups such as Team Elunes, Beyond Infinity, and Entity Gaming and is known for the being the mastermind behind BI’s infamous run to the finals in the SEA Open Qualifiers for TI6.

Philippines Joshua ‘Owa’ Dela Serna - Owa is a pretty staple name in the Philippines Dota circle having played for teams like Acion Arena, Mineski and more recently the ESL One Genting LAN with Execration.

New Zealand Marcela ‘KaOLee’ Lala (Manager) - The team will be managed by Marcela Lala who will be flying down from New Zealand to stay with the team. She has previously managed team DTT for over a year and is a known name in the SEA Dota scene.

The team will be bootcamping in Mumbai to train for upcoming tournaments. This is what the CEO of the project, Mujahid 'Mojo' Rupani had to say about their new venture:

'We have created the team with the intention that it can compete at an international level. For starters, we’ll be focusing on the SEA region and look to establish ourselves as THE top team in the region. We have left no stone unturned in providing the best of facilities for our players to train and stay in and we are confident that the Signify brand will soon be a top organization in the competitive esport ecosystem."

It seems COBX Gaming have spared no expense to ensure Team Signify have everything they need to be the next Clutch Gamers of the SEA Dota 2 scene. Being someone who has been following Dota 2 scene, I can say this is a good change not just for international tournaments, but for Indian ones as well as Team Signify will provide stiff competition to Entity Gaming who were the best Indian team by a mile for a few months. Personally, I hope they make it big!
