A convincing 3:0 sweep grant Newbee the Galaxy Battles Championship title

Newbee claim the Galaxy Battles Championship title and most likely secure their TI7 invite with a compelling 3:0 victory over Planet Odd.

Set amid a backdrop of cheerleaders, dancers and between game entertainment, the Grand Finals were played out between the two frontrunners and expected contenders.

Newbee had consistently been showing their A game - taking Zotac Cup championship title on the first of June and taking top three podium finishes in several premier events.

With two disappointing finishes - 9-16th at Kiev Major and then 7-8th at EPICENTER 2017, Planet Odd had been struggling to claim a stake on any LAN event to ensure them a spot on Valve's short list of invites.

Both teams had much on the line in the witching hour before TI7 invites would be issued. Newbee's execution and on point decision making have been fundamental keys to their success throughout the entire tournament. Diversifying their draft and keeping a step ahead of their opponents always, Newbee proved they are deserving of an invite to TI7.

Game 1

The first game of the series saw an Underlord pick up by Newbee, which played heavily into the course and outcome. The match was a bit of a roller coaster ride, with peaks and valleys, sharp turns and a swift surge towards the end. In the span of the final four minutes, Planet Odd's networth plummeted over 14k gold and Newbee accelerated right to victory.

Game 2

As if the thrill and excitement of the first match wasn't enough, the second match was just as riveting, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the last moments. Once again, Planet Odd had relinquished their advantage in the final five minutes with the game and networth surging into Newbee's favor to the tune of over 10k. Xu "Moogy" Han and Song "Sccc" Chun continue to put their talent and standout performances on the line for the team.

Game 3

By the third game, Underlord had become a priority ban against Newbee after running it twice in a row with success both times. With their backs against the wall and their tournament lives on the line, Planet Odd set out with their strongest performance of the series so far. Unfortunately for the North American based team, a Huskar pick and their resolve to step up their performance wasn't enough to stave off a defeat and elimination in the end.

Galaxy Battles LAN prize distribution:

1st Place: $69,000 - Newbee
2nd Place: $22,500 - Planet Odd
3rd Place: $18,000 - TnC
4th Place: $13,500 - Mousesports
5/6th Place: $9,000  - iG.Vitality/ViCi Gaming
7/8th Place: $4,500 - Infamous/HappyFeet
