The first day of the second Chinese qualifiers conclude with quite a few familiar faces involved, such as EHOME.K and Newbee.Young.
The eight teams ended their run in the first day of the open qualifiers with one round remaining until the safety of best-of-threes, and three victories from an invite to the closed Chinese qualifiers. Tomorrow, starting at 06:00 CEST, the teams will decide the recipient of the final invite to the closed qualifiers by playing out the remaining games in the bracket.
Of the eight teams who made it to the quarter-finals, three played in the first Chinese open qualifiers; Newbee.Y, EHOME.K and Avalon were knocked out of the first qualifier by eventual winners EHOME.X, VG.P and Newbee.Y respectively. With EHOME.X qualified, and VG.P eliminated, Newbee.Y and EHOME.K are no longer restricted by the teams that defeated them in the semi-finals the last time.
Having been eliminated in the round-of-32 last time, White Fries Gaming, a team with four SEA players, are in the quarter-finals on their second attempt. With renowned SEA players such as Ng 'YamateH' Wei Poong and Lee 'Ky.xY' Kang Yang, it is hard to call whether this team, which lost the Nanyang Cruise Cup qualifiers during the group stages, will be able to secure a spot in the close qualifiers.
