Virtus Pro once more claimed the European qualifier spot to a BTS event, and this time the Russian team is ready to pack their bags for Los Angeles.
Some of you might experience a déjà vu sensation only by looking at who reached the grand finals of the European qualifiers for Beyond the Summit 6. Yes, Ad Finem and Virtus.pro fought the same battle five months ago, the outcome being rather the same: VP qualified for BTS 5 back then. The difference is made by the new roster of Virtus Pro and by the fact that this time the Russians will actually travel to Los Angeles, California.
If you missed the previous BTS season, you might already scratch your head wondering what is this all about. Long story short, at Beyond the Summit 5 VP was caught breaking the tournament rules in the qualifiers grand finals, playing with a stand in for the last game of the series which triggered their replacement at the LAN finals. It was the defeated Greek squad Ad Finem who took VP’s place back then.
Five months later the two teams faced each other once more for a ticket to LA, Ad Finem maintaining their pre TI6 roster while VP started the new competitive season fully reformed. The Greeks had a very good game one with an unstoppable Slark for Omar 'Madara' Dabasas who finished the game with a personal K/D/A of 18-0-11 and a very well played Puck by Dmitris 'ThuG' Plivouris. However, VP regrouped for the next three games and put together strong drafts based on either Shadow Demon - Luna and Sniper illusions or Drow Ranger aura stack while Ad Finem went experimental at times. The Greeks lost the series with a Jakiro core mid lane in game two, an unsuccessful infest bomb lineup for game three and a last draft emphasizing pick offs with an ambush tactic in mind.
Taking the grand finals with a 3-1 victory, Virtus.pro will join Wings Gaming, Digital Chaos, OG, Evil Geniuses, Team Faceless, and NP who already qualified for The Summit 6 . The Chinese qualifiers will deliver the last team to travel this November to the BTS house.
