The first of today’s upper bracket games would see MVP Phoenix going head-to-head versus Wings Gaming for a chance to secure a top 3 finish at TI6.

Game One

MVP started the game at their usual blistering pace, claiming first blood before the horn and racking up another two unanswered kills with only four minutes passed. With ten minutes gone MVP had a 5-2 lead but had lost both mid tier one and two towers.

The Dire team claimed the game’s first aegis just before fifteen minutes but even with the lead MVP had, Wings were claiming more tower control. And this lead fell away very fast as MVP chose a bad team fight and Wings took full advantage of it. Wings seemed to have quelled the aggression of MVP for a short while, as they began to aggressively look for kills. With the second aegis going Wings way, MVP would have to play defensively for a while.

As thirty minutes approached, Wings marched onto the high ground bottom lane and dropped the melee barracks. Moments later, Wings dropped four from MVP and with that, the Dire team called GG.

Game Two

MVP started off game two again with early aggression. They claimed three kills by four minutes as they had in game one. MVP began to make small mistakes which allowed Wings a fair amount of breathing room with the score line being 9-5 to MVP soon after ten minutes. With the small window now open for them, Wings began to come back into the game.

Soon after twenty minutes, a team fight broke out at the Dire’s tier one tower and MVP got demolished, as Wings dropped four and took no losses. The Radiant team continued in this manner, continuously demolishing more than half of the MVP line up. With thirty minutes passed, Wings dropped down the top barracks and the game looked lost for MVP. Even though MVP found a few kills and another aegis, Wings destroyed them again and took down the bottom barracks.

Thirty six minutes in, MVP knew they had no way to come back into the game and called GG. With the loss, MVP have dropped down into the lower bracket.

For Wings Gaming, they have now secured a top three position at the very least, and look amazing going into the Upper Bracket finals. Next up, we'll find out who they'll be going up against - as Evil Geniuses take on EHOME.
