Pro Gaming League 2016: MVP.P takes home the victory

MVP.Phoenix took home the Pro Gaming League summer 2016 trophy after an impressive 3-0 over CDEC at the LAN finals in China.

Taking place on the same weekend as the Starladder i-League season 2 LAN finals, the Pro Gaming League summer 2016, featuring six Chinese teams, one SEA and one Korean team, had its LAN finals in Wuhan, China. During the tournament, MVP.Phoenix justified their TI 6 direct invite, only losing two of their eleven games; the losses were against CDEC.A during the group stages and IG.V, during the playoffs.

The tournament featured a $100,000 prize pool split between the top three. The first place finishers, MVP.P, will be receiving the $50,000 first place prize, CDEC, the $30,000 second place prize and IG.V, the $20,000 third place prize.

In the best-of-five series played against CDEC, MVP.P stuck to their signature aggressive five-man push style in their first two victories and switched to a late game orientated lineup for the third game.

Game one was rough for the Korean boys as their lineup failed to gain traction and fell behind, however, a disastrous Roshan fight by CDEC triggered MVP.P's comeback. In game two, MVP.P learned from their mistakes, drafting a similar lineup as game one and easily walked over CDEC under 30 minutes. One game away from the first place, MVP.P switched it up and picked a Naga Siren, aiming for a late game victory. The game proceeded smoothly and Kim 'QO' Sun, the Naga player, ended the 40 minute game with 490 last hits and an impressive 715 GPM.
