Wings Gaming - one step away from the Nanyang #2 title

The third match of the day brought into the spotlight two of the strongest teams in China who struggled to ensure a place in the Grand Final.

Of the eight teams participating at Nanyang Season 2, six of them were from China, and after round one both Digital Chaos and Team Empire were in the lower bracket. Wings Gaming passed easily through the upper bracket after defeating both Empire and CDECY with 2-0. NewBee was not outdone either, they beat two strong teams, LGD and Vici Gaming Reborn to maintain their spot in the upper bracket, meaning two Chinese teams have faced eachother for a top two finish in the tournament.

Game One:

NewBee picked their comfortable heroes while Wings surprised their opponents with a creative draft and an early aggression style

The Chinese battle got off to a quick start with First Blood going the way of Wong 'ChuaN' Hock Chuan who tried to hide in the trees before the first rune occured. Rotating their supports, NewBee managed to take down Batrider which quickly recovered his lost farm through numerous stacks Ogre made for him. Until the 10th minute, Tiny had free farm bottom and therefore was in no rush to leave the lane, and even if the score was 3-3, in the net worth chart there was a big discrepancy between the two teams at that point.

The first big team fight broke out just before 11 minutes, when three of NewBee missed  a gank on Medusa; Radiant restored and four of the Dire heroes died. Four minutes later, NewBee made their way to Roshan Pit but Wings contested the aegis after taking down their opponents. Beginning to look unstoppable and with a massive advantage, they started to push one lane forcing the GG call in minute 19.

Game Two:

The situation in the second match was totally different from the first one, with both teams very aggressive from the early game onwards. They made continual rotations and initiations, thus obtaining enough gold to buy the items they wanted to withstand the fight. As time went by, Slark became harder and harder to control so Wings had no other choice than to play defensive, going into battle only if they were forced.

In minute 25, they made a team wipe and instead of taking the Roshan down and setting some objectives across the map, Wings lost precious time and their opponents respawned. NewBee took the opportunity to initiate and snached the Aegis. If the first half of the game saw Wings with control of the map, in the second half things were reversed. NewBee dominated Radiant jungle and they were no longer taken by surprise as in the first match.

55 minutes were almost gone when NewBee pushed into the Radiant base and forced out the GG from Wings Gaming.

Game Three:

We saw three games and three different styles in this series. In the first match, Wings showed total supremacy  dominating every team fight. In the second one, we had 55 minutes of continous battles and tough skirmishes. In the third one, the passive style came into play.

By the 20th minute, both teams were farmed and they avoided each other, taking only a few inevitable kills. In minute 32, Juggernaut managed to make an UltraKill after brawl at Roshan. Having Aegis advantage, Wings managed to take down tier three and the melee mid barrack. They backed off safely and continued the passive play until the 45th minute mark when Juggernaut obtained another UltraKill and NewBee was forced to bow out of the game.
