The International 6 is bound to be unique in all aspects. From the lowest number ever for direct invites, to the open qualifiers featuring EG and Secret, and now the news that the regional qualifier will also be held in a different format than previous years.
From 25th to 29th June, the regional qualifiers for TI6 will be held for the first time in a round robin format, followed by a double elimination playoffs stage for each region.
Only the winner of each group will be granted a spot in The International 6 main event, while the second to fifth place finishers will advance into a double elimination playoffs bracket for each region. The winners of the playoffs brackets will also advance into the TI 6 event. Second place finishers will qualify for the Wild Card competition which is expected, as in previous years, to be held in Seattle prior to the event. From the four teams fighting in the Wild Card only two will book their TI6 participation.
All games from the first stage, round robin will be played in a best-of-one format, while the playoffs will have best-of-three games with best-of-five grand finals.
