OG claim their place in the ESL One Frankfurt 2016 final

The final day at ESL One Frankfurt began with the first semi-final, which saw OG taking on Team Liquid. The top two ranked teams in the world will battle it out in a rematch of the Manila Major finals – who would make it to the final?

Game One

A quick kill at the top rune spot granted OG the first blood ,and it was Johan 'Notail' Sundstein's Meepo that got the last hit. However, as the early game moved on, Team Liquid began to roll through the OG line up. With a 12-4 score line at twelve minutes in, Liquid took full control of the game, grabbing an aegis and then heading top where they dropped the tier two tower.

Before twenty minutes had passed Liquid went high ground and as they ripped through the OG team, the Dire had nothing left to do but call GG.

Game Two

First blood took two minutes to go down, this time going in the favour of Team Liquid, but OG equalised the score line barely a minute later. With ten minutes gone, the teams seem to be fairly even, with the score line being 5-5 and both teams grabbing single pick offs around the map. Suddenly Liquid found a great team fight mid, dropping two from OG before finding another two bot lane.

The game started to look to be very much in Liquid’s favour until OG found three kills outside the Rosh pit and pushed down mid with the newly taken aegis in hand. OG had turned the game around, pushing down top lane and dropping the Dire’s barracks. OG continued to pressure the Liquid line up, but Liquid managed to grab an aegis for themselves in the hopes of turning the game back in their favour.

With forty two minutes passed, the game looked to be heading back in Liquid’s favour, but OG did not let that happen and took down four from the Dire’s lineup and pushed down mid. With that, Liquid had no way to make any come back and had to throw in the towel. OG tied the series at 1-1, with the decisive game three coming up.

Game Three

In this game it was OG who claimed first blood, killing off Kuro 'KuroKy-' Salehi Takhasomi's Riki in the Radiant jungle. But the Dire dropped the tier one top tower before five minutes had passed. With fifteen minutes approaching, OG seemed to have a better grasp of the game, claiming kills on Liquid’s cores constantly. OG continued to pressure the Liquid line up and by twenty two minutes, they had full map control.

The game went into a stalemate, with single kills being traded here and there. But as forty minutes approached, Liquid managed to find two kills and took down the tier two top tower. However, with forty five minutes gone, OG pushed the high ground mid and dropped the barracks after taking down two from the Dire. They then moved onto top where they began to pressure the tier three tower.

Soon after this OG wiped the Dire team and with no hope left in sight, Liquid called GG. With that, Team Liquid take 3rd/4th place and OG move through to the final of ESL One Frankfurt where they will face the winner of the upcoming Vega Squadron vs Na’Vi game.
