The Summit 5: The redemption vote begins, direct invites released

Bundled with the announcement that Liquid, OG and Na'Vi have been directly invited to The Summit 5 is the start of the redemption vote.?

The three recently announced direct invites will be joining the Chinese, SEA, American and European qualifier winners. Manila Major first place, second place and seventh place finishers, OG, Liquid and Na'Vi will be joining Wings, Fnatic, Digital Chaos and Ad Finem at the LAN event of The Summit 5 taking place in Los Angeles, USA from the 13th to 17th of July. In light of the announcement, seven of the eight teams attending The Summit 5's LAN finals have now been decided - the last invite will be given to the redemption vote winner.

For this iteration of The Summit, the opportunity to vote for your favorite team in the redemption vote will be given for every purchase at the newly opened Summit shop; for every dollar spent, the customer is entitled to two votes. Stretch goals have also been revealed by BTS, with purchases in the shop contributing to the stretch goals and $100,000 base prize pool.

With the privileges granted by The Summit 2 and 3's in-game compendiums now available on the Summit shop, it is unlikely that The Summit 5 will have a compendium. It is also worth noting that complications between The Summit 4's planned compendium and the Source 2 engine resulted in last season's redemption vote being canceled.

The Summit is a tournament series hosted by Beyond The Summit and features a "relaxed atmosphere" as one of its main selling points. In addition to playing Dota at the event, players will take part in a variety of events. A few examples of previously featured events are bathtub interviews and maid cosplay by IG, a part of their redemption vote promise.
