Fnatic join Alliance in the upper bracket Shanghai Major main event

South East Asia is on a hot streak at the Shanghai Major with both region representatives grabbing an upper bracket main event start after Fnatic won the group B deciding game versus Team Spirit.

Game One

The decider match-up of day two had a full, action-packed start to the series with very prompt teleport reactions coming out from Fnatic in the early laning phase which set the killing score at 10 to 5 in their favor - with a mega kill streak for Zheng 'MidOne' Yeik Nai - by the 10 minute mark.

Fnatic continued their dominance over the Russian squad due to spot on individual plays from Wai Pern 'Net' Lim on Disruptor and Djardel 'DJ' Mampusti on Tusk until the mid stage of the game when Team Spirit’s cores, Outworld Devourer and Gyrocopter, finished their BkB’s. Suddenly both Bogdan 'Iceberg' Vasilenko and Roman 'Ramzes' Kushnarev became relevant in team fights, being able to deliver their big damage ultimates and started to turn the game into Team Spirit’s favor.

However, Fnatic kept split pushing for a while with Ohaiyo’s Nature’s Prophet and MidOne’s Invoker, and even managed to snatch an Aegis from Team Spirit 38 minutes into the game which created enough chaos on the map for Ohaiyo to be able to take a tier three mid lane and a tier three tower plus ranged barracks in the top lane.

Unfortunately for Fnatic that was their last offensive move, Iceberg’s OD getting six slotted with a Moonshard consumed started to simply crush anyone who would dared confront him and secured the game for Team Spirit.

Game Two

Being one game away from a grim lower bracket main event repeating scenario, Fnatic managed to steal the three key heroes, from Team Spirit, that kept them alive in the previous game.  MidOne got to play the OD this time around, Mushi on the Gyrocopter while the support Earth Spirit was handled by DJ.

Having a strong support harasser on his side, Mushi had a much better start this time and Fnatic forced Team Spirit to a decisive game three after a very one sided 31 minute victory.

Game Three

The last game of the day brought a mixed draft for Fnatic with both huge split push power and good teamfight control heroes. The legendary Outworld Devourer - Mushi came into play but in a safe lane position one, leaving MidOne with Templar Assassin to face Iceberg’s Zeus in the mid lane. However, the MVP pick of the game was Broodmother for Ohaiyo, the man who applied huge pressure on Team Spirit and created all the needed space for his cores to safely farm.

Despite an overall good performance from Team Spirit and an excellent individual play from the 16 year old Roman 'Ramzes' Kushnarev, who also got a community vote for the MVP of the game on his Ember Spirit, the Russians couldn’t find the momentum and crumbled under TA and OD’s powerful right clicks.

41 minutes was all that Fnatic needed to secure their upper bracket start on the Mercedes Benz Arena at the Shanghai Major and with that SEA now has both of their representatives kick starting their adventure in China from a comfortable position.
