Team MY qualifies for i-League 3 while maintaining their 14 win streak

Continuing their dominance of the SEA scene, Team MY takes the SEA qualifiers for the i-league #3 LAN finals; the victory has also guaranteed them a 1.5% stake in the $320 000 prize pool.

After the hard fought battle in the grand final between Mineski and Team MY, Team MY edges out Mineski 2-1 to qualify for the i-League #3 LAN finals which is taking place on the 19th of May in Shanghai, China; Team MY also secures themselves a 1.5% stake in the $320 000 base prize pool.

The qualifiers for this tournament saw quite a few surprises, mainly the early elimination of MVP.Phoenix and Mineski's strong showing. The elimination of MVP.Phoenix comes as a surprise due to the lack of their usual dominating performances against other SEA teams like G-Guard  (2-0) and Signature.Trust (2-0); their performance in the recent MLG Columbus was also very strong, taking down some of the world's best teams like EG (1-0). However MVP.Phoenix's performance in this tournament was far from strong as they were unable to show that level of performance when playing against Mineski resulting in their 2-0 elimination by them.

As for the other surprising performance, Mineski were not only able to make it to the finals by eliminating SEA's third and fourth best teams, MVP.Phoenix and Signature.Trust (based on Gosurankings), but also nearly took a series against SEA's top team, Team MY, who were on an impressive 13 win streak. In addition, they did all this despite their historically weak showing against other SEA teams who are not doing as well as the top SEA teams, like CSW (lost 2-1) and PleaseReportTimbersaw (lost 0-1).

In the finals. Mineski got to a hot start after taking game one with their 5-man orientated lineup, featuring a Witch Doctor and Sniper. However, Mineski was not able to repeat their performance in game two and three, losing to a Tiny-Wisp combo in game two and their failure to execute a Tiny-Wisp combo in game three against Team MY's 5-man heavy line-up.

Although Mineski lost to Team MY in the i-League #3 qualifiers, they can look forwards to taking their revenge on Team MY in the ESL One SEA qualifiers finals, taking place at 12:30 CET today.

Qualified Teams:
China LGD
Sweden Alliance
Malaysia Team MY
International Team Tinker
