The second team to receive an invite to the ESL One Franfurt lan finals are Evil Geniuses, the giants of North America. They will join Team Secert at the finals to battle for the base prize pool of $250,000 in June.
With EG's stellar performance at the DAC and great form as of late, the ESL One invite does not come as too big of a surprise to many. Having come second in the past two ESL One events, this EG team will be looking to place first for this prestigious event.
The invites are trickling in one by one to the main event as hype builds for it with each passing day. This invitation is the second of three that will be given out, it seems likely that the third invite will be a team from Asia given how ESL has invited an NA and an EU team so far. These three invited teams will join five other teams who qualified at the Commerzbank-Arena where they will face off to earn their stake of the $250,000 prize pool.
As for the qualification, each region will see open qualifiers being played out, with the top teams of said open qualifiers advancing to the 2nd phase where a set of invited teams will be waiting. No qualifier has concluded yet.
