MLG and joinDOTA will partner up for three seasons of the open tournament joinDOTA League. Each season will have an online and LAN phase, with the participants gathering MLG Pro points that will serve as their ticket to the MLG World Championship in late 2015. The competitions offers a minimum of $475,000 in cash prizes and $90,000 for the teams' travel expenses.
The American organization MLG (Major League Gaming) will make a comeback in the DotA2 scene in 2015, with a new series of tournaments in cooperation with joinDOTA. Three seasons of the new MLG-joinDOTA League have been announced for the following year, leading to the MLG World Championship in the fourth quarter of 2015. The tournaments will offer a minimum of $475,000 in cash prizes and $90,000 for travel compensation.
This is the fifth DotA2 tournament by MLG since the game's launch, after the online T.K.O, FullSail, NA League and offline MLG Columbus 2013 (which was voted the #1 tournament in 2013's GosuAwards). Another LAN tournament was planned for MLG Anaheim in 2014, but it was cancelled due to the vast amount of offline tournaments taking place at the time.
The three upcoming seasons will be open for every team that wishes to participate. All seasons will consist of an online and offline phase. The participants will gather MLG Pro Points with their victories, which will be used as criteria for their participation in the playoffs. In addition to open qualifiers, professional teams will be invited to the league; they will probably receive a direct seed in one of the later stages of the tournament. More information on team registration and format will be announced soon.
Live broadcasting of the seasons and World Championship will be provided by joinDOTA and MLG.TV
