4FC managed to exact revenge on AfterShock when it mattered the most and secured for themselves the Golden Esports League Season 2.
4FC, runner-up of the first season, defeated their Swedish counterparts Aftershock 2-0 in the finals yesterday to win the Golden Esports League Season 2. The total prize pool of the tournament was 30,000 SEK and gaming gear, and with this victory, 4FC net themselves approximately $1900. The detailed prize pool distribution is as follows:
Rank | Team | Winnings |
---|---|---|
1st | 4 Friends + Chrillee | $1,900 |
2nd | Aftershock Gaming | $1,450 |
3rd | Team GO | $850 |
4th | Turtle Masters | $380 |
Aftershock, who made it to the tournament through the qualifiers, were, arguably, the strongest contenders to win the playoffs after their dominating performance in the group matches where they finished 11-3, closely followed by 4FC at 10-4. They kept up to everyone's expectations when they defeated 4FC 2-1 in the upper bracket finals. However, 4FC was undeterred and returned to the grand finals. They took down Team GO in the lower bracket finals, following which they defeated Aftershock without dropping a single map.
