WEC LAN Finals Day 2: C9 to Grand Final, EG to face NewBee

Midway through the second day of the WEC LAN, only four teams remain in the competition with two more best of threes to be played.

The second day has seen some nailbiting matches being played from the beginning, with game two of the LGD vs LGD.CDEC showcasing a 70 minute thriller with buybacks galore and constant large teamfight after large team fight. However, LGD.CDEC's inexperience showed and they fell to their brother team after some teamfight mistakes.

In the other elimination best of three, EG comfortably took out HGT, securing themselves a direct match against Na`Vi in the loser's bracket second round. Again, EG played confidently to take a win in the first match, but completely outplayed Na`Vi in the second, forcing a GG call from Na`Vi after only 9 minutes.

In the other Loser's Bracket second round match, NewBee faced a tough matchup against LGD, with the two titans of Chinese Dota playing three back-to-back close matches. However, the newly created LGD were unable to defeat the experienced NewBee, allowing NewBee to take a 2-1 victory after three hard-fought matches. NewBee will next meet EG in the loser's bracket semi-finals.

The winner's bracket match between C9 and VG was not a closely contested affair - VG fell apart extremely early in the first match, being unable to shut down any of C9's cores and giving up many kills. VG called the GG 23 minutes in against a team sporting a Tinker - highlighting how far behind they were at that point. The second match featured EternalEnvy on Naga Siren being shut down early, but C9's rotations were just better than VG's, and won the mid-game teamfights that put their advantage in an unassailable position.

The next best of three will be played between NewBee and EG to decide who will meet Vici Gaming in the Loser's Bracket final. The grand finals will be played tomorrow, beginning at 0430CEST/1030SGT. The Grand Finals will be a best of three of best of threes, with the Winner's Bracket winner having a 1-0 advantage. This means that C9 will need to win just one best of three to win the tournament, while the Loser's Bracket winner will have to win two best of threes to win the tournament.
