The Dota 2 Champions League has just recently announced its 4th season. This time around, 18 teams will battle it out for four spots at Dreamhack Masters Bucharest 2014, where the finals will be held. With a starting fund of $50,000, fans can once more contribute to the overall prizepool by purchasing the in-game ticket.

The 4th season of the Dota 2 Champions League is upon us and this time around it is bigger than ever. For the first time in the tournaments history, 18 teams will fight it out over two months to qualify for the Dreamhack Bucharest Masters LAN event. The prize pool starts at $50,000 but fans can contribute to the pool by purchasing in-game tickets. Exact details as to whether it will be bundled with an item or not have yet to be released, but $2.50 of every purchase will go directly to the prize pool.

The exact format and participant list has thus far not been released. So far, every tournament had a groupstage with two groups and a single elimination bracket. Seeing as 18 teams will now participate, this format is subject to change.

The travel and living expenses for the four teams that will qualify for Bucharest will be covered by the organizer.

Statement by Dreamz Media COO, Mark Averbukh

During the last several months we have been working on making our last Dota 2 tournament in 2014 even better than before: the rules have been improved, the number of media partners has risen, league format has been modified and also some key innovations have been added, which we will announce shortly.

Thanks to our partnership with the organizers of DreamHack Bucharest, for the first time in 4 season we will have LAN-finals, and what is more important, the qualified teams will be provided with complimentary travel to Bucharest and accommodation inside Romania's capital for the finals.
We are confident that both players and spectators will appreciate and enjoy what we've been working on for the past few months

The D2CL is one of the first Western tournaments to announce themselves with StarLadder Season X to be the next one.
