Compendium raises over $10.8 Million, first place winners get 1 million each

The compendium has raised a total of $10,870,000 just as The International begins. With the current prize pool distribution of 46% to the first place winner, this amounts to a total of $1,000,000 per player, or the first place prize in 2011 and 2012 Internationals.

The International prize pool raised this amount in a total of three months since the launch of the compendium rewards and points system. With the stakes being four times higher than last year, the competition is fierce with the remaining teams having only about two days to fight for the first placing in the tournament, and the prize money that goes with it.

With the new prize pool distribution, the second place winner would net a cool $1,450,000, or half of last year's total prize pool. The amount distributed for the top five places are accurate at time of writing this article:

Prize pool distribution:

  • 1st Place - $5,002,120 (46%)
  • 2nd Place - $1,468,013 (13.5%)
  • 3rd Place - $1,033,046 (9.5%)
  • 4th Place - $815,563 (7.5%)

  • 5th Place - $652,450 (6.0%)
