Format announced for the upcoming LAN finals of The Summit

The offline finals of The Summit will take place from June 5th through June 8th. The format of the main event will be similar to The International - the six teams will go through the initial round-robin phase, followed by the double-elimination playoffs.

The ongoing tournament The Summit was announced back in March, and is one of several international competitions taking place in 2014. It features both an online and LAN phase, with the participants fighting over a $80,000 prize pool (with a crowd funding boost from the DotaTV ticket). The tournament included three regional qualifiers for Europe, Asia and America, with the Asian and American qualifiers having two stages - the pre-qualifiers and the main qualifiers (for Europe was is just one stage).

The qualifiers of The Summit are over and a total of six teams will be travelling to Los Angeles to compete for the $115,000 current prize pool. The main event is scheduled to take place from June 5th through June 8th. The first two days will include the groupstage matches, while the remaining days will be devoted to the playoffs.

The format of the tournament is similar to The International. The first round will be a round-robin groupstage, with best-of-one matches between the six participants. The second round will be a double-elimination bracket, leading to the Grand Final. The top-four teams of the groupstage will advance to the Upper playoff bracket, and the bottom two will fall to the Lower Bracket. All the playoff matches will be best-of-three, except the best-of-five Grand Final. It should be noted that the team with the most points in the first round will be able to choose their opponent (either the third or fourth squad).

Live broadcasting of the playoffs will be provided by BeyondTheSummit through TwitchTV. The DotaTV ticket is still available, boosting the total prizepool of the tournament with every purchase.
