DreamLeague's 'Super Weekend' finished, one match postponed

All but one game of Dream League's season play have already been decided, with four teams already securing a slot in the playoffs. The only game that was not able to finish is the match between Natus Vincere and Evil Geniuses, as it was postponed because of supposedly a DDoS attack on the Ukrainian team's mid player, Danylo 'Dendi' Ishutin.

It was a busy weekend for Dream League's final weekend of season play, with 13 games scheduled in that two-day stretch. Aside from the numerous matches, the DreamHack Studio was also opened to the public during that stretch which they labeled as the 'Super Weekend'.

Among the matches scheduled were crucial face-offs between teams vying for a playoff slot. The top six teams after the season play will qualify to the LAN playoffs scheduled 14-16 at DreamHack Summer in Sweden. The top two teams will be seeded directly into the winner's bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs, while the remaining four will find themselves playing a round earlier.

Empire kicked it off by cementing their pole position after defeating MYM in a one-sided game, with the former finishing the game with three of their heroes combining for a 22-0-32 KDA record. Cloud9 followed not too long after an impressive win against Na`Vi, taking control of the game early and punishing the latter's greedy line-up of Invoker, Medusa and Ancient Apparition. The two finished the season play with twelve wins apiece, ending up in a tied score for the top two slots.

Evil Geniuses was the next team to advance, claiming a slot in the playoffs after three dominating wins. Entering the final weekend with just five points and still four games left to play, they defeated MYM, Alliance and Fnatic within 14, 19 and 23 minutes respectively. Team Dog also ended up tied with EG, with a 1-1 performance turning out to just be enough.

Following those is another pair of similarly-scored teams - Alliance and Fnatic who both have eight points. Alliance had a chance to guarantee themselves of a playoff slot, but they lost both of their games (first was against Fnatic, second was versus RoX.KiS) that day. Fnatic started the weekend right by securing wins against Team Dog and Alliance, but they failed to secure a slot after being dominated by EG.

One match didn't finish though, and the match has now turned out to be of importance. Evil Geniuses and Natus Vincere's match is postponed all the way to 31 May after the Ukrainian team's middle-lane player Danylo 'Dendi' Ishutin supposedly experienced DDoS attacks. EG will advance into the playoffs regardless of the result, but Na`Vi's situation is different. A lose would have them being eliminated from the tournament, with Alliance and Fnatic moving in into the next round. A win, however, would put them up in a tie with those teams.

EG and Na`Vi's game was cancelled just five minutes into the pause-laden match, but the remake will be played from the replay as the American team had already secured an early game advantage. Aside from a two-kill lead, EG was also able to snipe Na`Vi's courier early.

In case Na`Vi wins that match, a tiebreaker will be held between them, Alliance and Fnatic to determine the final two teams to advance into the LAN playoffs.

DreamLeague is the first third-party event with an interactive Compendium, and has now increased its prize pool from $100,000 to around $240,000. Considering the current pool, the Champion of the LAN playoffs will receive around $67,000. Even the teams who failed to make the playoffs will still receive a purse, and at the moment, the price is set to be around $7,000.
