The International 4's prizepool has now exceed $3,500,000, already more than doubling the $1.6 million base prize pool within 48 hours after the Compendium's release. It has already far surpassed the $2,874,380 prize pool of last year's The International.
The $3,500,000 mark has been breached less than 48 hours after The International 4's Compendium was released to the market. The addition of almost two million dollars in the prize pool in a mere two days is now not very surprising after seeing the one million increase achieved within the first 13 hours, as well as surpassing TI3's $2,874,380 prize pool in just less than 23 hours.
That milestone is also the eight of currently thirteen stretch goals. Every time the pool reaches a certain mark, a certain reward will be given to either everyone or to Compendium owners only. For this eight stretch goal, it is only the Compendium users who will benefit as they will get Dota 2 chat emoticons. Among the previously unlocked rewards are battle point boosters, loading screens and a new-game mode (all random deathmatch)
The prize pool increases everytime a Compendium, priced $9.99, is purchased. It also increments when the Compendium points valued $2.49 (500 points / 5 levels), $4.99 (1100 points / 11 levels) and $9.99 (2400 points / 24 levels) are sold. 25% of all the sales from Compendium and the points are redirected towards the prize.
With almost two million added into the pool, it means that the community has already exhausted just short of eight million dollars by buying either the Compendium or its points. Last year's champion received 50% of the total prize pool, but this year's prize breakdown is not disclosed yet.
The next stretch goal is set when the prize pool reaches $4,000,000, with the reward being a mini-Pudge courier. Users with Compendium above level 50 will have an alternate skin available to that courier given that the goal is reached. Considering the sales the past two days, it is highly likely that this will be reached. There are still more than 60 days before the start of The International 4's main event.
