DreamLeague to finish preliminaries with a 'Super Weekend'

After already more than two months of season play, DreamLeague will hold a 'Super Weekend' on which all the 13 remaining preliminary games will be played. The DreamHack studio will be open to the public during the games.

The usual weekend of DreamLeague never reaches double-digit games, but the last one is packed with 13 games scheduled and all but two teams having at least one game to play. What makes it more interesting is that eight out of the twelve participating teams are contesting either one of two seeded playoff slots (directly into the winner's bracket semifinals) or the four other playoff positions.

Empire is slightly ahead of the opposition, but they are the only team with one game remaining this weekend. The bottom part is more complicated, with five teams just being a point away from each other as they contest the final two playoff slots.

The DreamHack studio will be open to the public during the Super Weekend, wherein fans may be able to watch the casters and the analysts live.

The top six teams after the season play will qualify to the LAN playoffs scheduled 14-16 at Dreamhack Summer in Sweden. The top two teams will be seeded directly into the winner's bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs, while the remaining four will find themselves playing a round earlier.

DreamLeague is the first third-party event with an interactive Compendium, and has now increased its prize pool from $100,000 to around $238,000. Considering the current pool, the Champion of the LAN playoffs will receive around $67,000. Even the teams who failed to make the playoffs will still receive a purse, and at the moment, the price is set to be around $6,900.
