In what is becoming a SEA rivalry, Malaysian-team Titan fought off Singaporean-team Scythe to a highly-contested five-game series to win the second straight WD Pro Series title.
The two teams faced each other in the grand finals of The Inaugural a little less than a week ago, a match wherein Titan took with the score of 3-1. They rode of that momentum and went into the game in high spirits. They took the first game convincinly, winning in just 32 miinutes behind the 18-1-17 KDA of kyxy's Ember Spirit.
The second game was Scythe's turn to win via route, as they handily scored a victory against their opponent in just 26 minutes. Despite three blink daggers on the Malaysian team, they were not able to fend off Scythe's global and mobile lineup. Their were able to score pickoffs all over the map with a Puck and Batrider, as well as an Ancient Apparition and a Wisp-Sven combo to deal out damage.
It was Titan's turn to win the third game to take a 2-1 lead. It was severely one-sided, with no hero of Titan having more than one death and four heroes of Scyhe having zero kill. The Singaporean team evened up quickly though, as they won game four behind an aggressive line-up of the Storm-Lifestealer combo with a Treant Protector to aid them.
The final game, the deciding match, was rightfully the most exciting match of the series. But despite Scyhe's mobility with Mirana's leap and blink dagger on all of their other heroes, they still again fell to the hands of kyxy's Ember and the Sceptered combo of Void and Ancient Apparition. Interestingly, the winning team of all five games came from the Radiant side.
The WD Dota 2 Pro Series is a set eight-team, single-elimination tournaments called Pro Series. There are a total of four Pro Series, with the first three having a winner-takes-all $500 prize, and the last one having a pool of $1,500. Titan also took the first Pro Series after defeating Arrow Gaming 3-1 in the finals.
The same set of teams will be participating in all Pro Series. The third pro series will start this week, but a definite date has not been established yet.
