After a second place finish in the regional divisions, Evil Geniuses took down Team Liquid with a game score of 2-0 in the American best-of-three grand final. With their victory, EG will earn 15% of the total prizepool, and Team Liquid will receive 7%.
The American division of joinDotA League has come to an end, with Evil Geniuses defeating Team Liquid in the best-of-three regional finals. This is the second division of the tournament to conclude, after Titan's recent victory in the SEA final. The curtains will fall for the European counterpart later this week.
Game one saw a unique Phantom Assassin pick from Arteezy, while Liquid took Slark as their main carry. Although the game began well for Team Liquid, EG turned the game around with a fight near the top lane and continued to exert their dominance for the next thirty minutes until Team Liquid called the game.
In game two, Team Liquid once again got off to a great start, finding picks all over the map including a first blood on Arteezys Invoker at middle lane. However, once again, one bad teamfight near the bottom lane eighteen minutes in led to Liquid getting wiped out and EG destroying bottom barracks. Only a few minutes later, another teamwipe at middle forced multiple buy backs out of Liquid, but the lackluster defense led to 22 minute GG.
With the American Division concluding, the European Division will be next with Rox.KiS taking on Cloud9 for the right to challenge Team Empire. The Asian bracket has already finished with Titan defeating Arrow Gaming 2-0.
JoinDota league has raised about $10,000 and EG will be taking home 15% of the share, while Team Liquid will receive 7%. The total prize distribution can be found here.
