Western Qualifiers for WPC-ACE kicks off today

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed that Team Dog will officially replace Sigma.int and will be facing Team Empire tonight at 17:00 CEST.

UPDATE: Despite reports that Team Dog will be replacing Sigma, the WPC organizer has confirmed with GosuGamers that team Sigma has not withdrawn from the tournament and thus, they cannot accept Team Dog. Given that, whichever team would play later under Sigma's schedule will be labelled by WPC as such.

Sigma players FATA- and Pas- are rumored to be joining Team Dog, along with with the latter's Misery, Pajkatt and MSS. That five-man roster played as Team Dog against Virtus.Pro yesterday in the Bounty Hunter series, which they won with a score of 3-0.

The Western Qualifiers for the WPC-ACE League will kick off today, with five of the top teams in the west vying for the two qualifying spots for the LAN playoffs in Shanghai, China.

The five teams will be playing a round-robin best-of-two series, with a total of 10 matches. Each map played will count as a single point, so there is no additional benefit for winning both matches in the series. All 10 matches will be played over the next three days, with three matches today and tomorrow, and four matches on Saturday. The matches will begin everyday at 15:00 CET/21:00 SGT, and have been scheduled at two hour intervals.

The top two teams from the group will receive an all expenses paid trip to Shanghai to compete in the pre-playoffs in Shanghai, which will see the teams being seeded into the upper and lower bracket. The LAN playoffs will take place from 30 May to 3 June at the Shanghai Esports Centre.

The Chinese league will have its next match on Sunday, 13 April, with a couple of high-key matches: DK vs LGD, and IG vs NewBee.
