Empire victorious at Techlabs Cup 2014, takes home $10,000

Empire won the most recent installment of Techlabs cup after defeating NEXT.kz with 2-0 scores as they matched-up in both the upper bracket finals and the championship. They are taking home $10,000 for this win.

Team Empire finally found a trophy to go with its hot streak, as it ended victorious on Techlubs cup. They had an undefeated run in the main event, defeating Virtus.Pro and Next.KZ twice on the upper bracket semifinals, upper bracket finals and grand finals respectively.

Empire was directly invited into the main event, along with RoX.KiS.  Next.kz and Virtus.Pro, on the other hand, were able to advance into the main event after finishing first and second respecitively in the eight-team double-elimination qualifier.

Prize distribution:
First, $10,000 - Russia Team Empire
Second, $5,000 - Kazakhstan NEXT.kz
Third, $3,000 - Russia RoX.KiS
Fourth, $2,000 - Russia Virtus.Pro

Game 1

While Next.kz saw a good start on their aggressive trilane, managing to keep the Lycan at bay, Empire managed to come back with Roman "Resolut1on" Fominok's Invoker getting the upperhand over Batrider. Sunstrike after sunstrike, Resolut1on was absolutely on point, securing kill after kill to give Airat "Silent" Gaziev space to farm. It was then only a matter of time before the Lycan managed to farm up his necrobook and join his team to push into Next.kz's base and secure the victory.

Game 2

Game 2 was a little more disastrous for NEXT.kz as once again, Resolut1on's Invoker proved to be too strong for the Kazakhstans. This time, both teams opted for a safe lane trilane but it was the mid lane that was the deciding factor. With the aid of Shadow Demon's disruption, Resolut1on was able to land significant sunstrike kills with ease. Just a minute faster than Game 1, Empire managed to siege the highground and force the "'GG" call from Next.kz, sweeping the Kazakhstan team very convincingly off the podium to take first place.
