The International 4: 10,000 tickets sold after an hour

With The International 4 fast approaching, ticket sales began on the 5th of April. Within an hour, all 10,000 tickets were sold out.

It seems that all the tickets for The International 4, which is to be held at the KeyArena in Seattle, have sold out. Doug Lombardi, Valve's Vice President for Marketing, had this to say when contacted regarding the ticket sales:

"Tickets were gone roughly one hour after they went on sale"

On April 5th 06:00 SGT, three types of tickets were put on sale by TicketMaster: General Admission ($99), Floor Seats ($199), and VIP Package ($499). By 07:00, all tickets for their respective categories were sold out. Generally, the privileges of the tickets are self descriptive, but below is the clarification of the entitlements of the VIP tickets provided by Valve.

VIP Package includes:

- Access to all 6 days of Playoffs (formerly Group Stage) taking place on July 8th, before the Championships Event
- Floor Seating
- Exclusive VIP Meet & Greets
- Access to the After Party

All tickets guarantee admission to all four days of the Dota 2's The International at KeyArena, Seattle. KeyArena in Seattle has the capacity to hold 17,000 spectators. Whilst the tickets are sold out at the moment, there is the possibility of a second wave. There is currently spare capacity for 7,000 more spectators, but adding extra seats will come at the cost of viewing pleasure for the rest of the audience.

This year's The International event will take on a different format from last year's, having 11 direct invite teams, along with four teams qualifying through the various regional qualifiers. These qualifiers will take place between May 12th and May 25th, with the winner of each qualifier receiving an invitation to The International. From there, the four runner-ups of the regional qualifiers will be invited to Seattle to compete for the final spot in the competition.
