Star Series VIII details announced; prize pool boosted to $40,000 and BTS instead of Tobi

A few hours ago, StarLadder announced the eighth season of Star Series which will include 18 teams and an increased prize pool from $25,000 in the last season to $40,000 courtesy of Intel and Asus. Besides that, for each DotaTV ticket purchased, Starladder will add $2.50 into the prize pool.

The format of the tournament will be similar to previous seasons, in which all the teams will be competing in a round robin and the top four placers of the groupstage will receive a subsidized travel to Star Series VII offline playoffs in Kiev. According to the official announcement, the first matches of the season are set to kick off on the 25th of November. The tournament will run until the 5th of January next year and the LAN finals will be played on the 17th of January.

The official English broadcasting of the tournament will surprisingly not be handled by Toby 'TobiWan' Dawson but BeyondTheSummit Studios and Sheever instead. The Russian cast will still run from Starladder's Twitch channel as usual.
