With all the content going up at The International 3, we somehow missed this great interview conducted by Rod 'Slasher' Breslau on behalf of Gamespot with Erik Johnson.
Many questions were asked in the 20 minutes long video including Valve's decision to bring in Icefrog to develop Dota 2. When prompted on whether the growth of Dota 2 has exceeded their expectations, Johnson said, "It has a great community to work with. It is one of the smartest community we have dealt with and their ability to understand the game mechanics is excellent". Johnson continued by saying they are constantly listening to feedback of the community to improve the game.
Slasher also touched on how much bigger The International event is in comparison to other events throughout the year in which Johnson replied with, "We don't want TI to be that different from the other events. We don't think that is healthy long term for the professionals."
"We need more events that are bigger and from the many ways that you can measure it, number of people viewing, people's enthusiasm, how the professionals conduct themselves, I don't think there is a reason why other events can't be just as big," Johnson answered. "I think things are going to change within the next year".
