ESWC qualifiers will begin on the 4th of August this year. Uninvited teams are to pass through two set of qualifiers before being eligible to attend the main event in Paris, France held end of October.
More details of ESWC European qualifiers have been released and according to the official tournament page, teams will have to go through two layers of qualifiers before arriving at the main event.
Pre-qualifier
The first qualifier, termed the pre-qualifier will be open for 64 selected teams in which eight of them will receive entry to the regional qualifiers that will be held from the 4th of September onwards. The pre-qualifiers will use an 8x8 groupstage format followed by a single elimination best-of-one playoff. The playoff's grand final will be played in a best-of-three. Eight teams from the pre-qualifiers will move on to the regional qualifiers. Registration of the pre-qualifiers can be done here.
Regional qualifier
The regional qualifier is where eight of the top pre-qualifiers teams will meet eight invited European and North American teams to battle for two open slots in the ESWC main event. The format of the regional qualifier has not been released but will run from the 10th of September till the 20th of September. ESWC main event will be a three days event starting from the 31st of October in Paris, France.
