Chin Yi 'chenizace' Chen, manager of Invasion-MUFC, invited me to their gaming house last Sunday for an open house party and considering there were free food and free beer, I simply could not resist but to leave Redbull ECL and EMS One to party with the boys.
To much surprise, their gaming house is only 10 minutes drive away from my place and after we parked our car, my slave (driver) and I headed towards the 25 storeys apartment building to check out where the Invasion-MUFC players are holed up. Their gaming house is situated on the 17th floor and I was greeted by a large Invasion-MUFC flag hanging on the door at the end of the corridor.
Many pictures of the gigantic flag later, we stepped into the gaming house and I am surprised to find the place rather clean and brightly lit. The door was wide open so there was no need for a, "Knock knock... Come in....", if you get what I mean. The first thing I saw was the kitchen to my left and some random room with a CRT television to my right which I can only assume to be a store room turned into a place to put a random television.
The computers were all lined-up facing the left wall and the players were all there either playing pubs or watching the RedBull ECL semi-finals. I reached pretty early, about two hours before the supposed party, and while the players were mostly quiet doing their own stuff, I headed into the bedroom and snapped some pictures of it. I was told that two person occupy each room and surprisingly, Sharky, MUFC's sixth player, has been sleeping there the whole time. Bastard got the master room too.
Their gaming house is rather humble so there wasn't much to do after taking pictures aside from watching the players play pub. We mostly spent our time exchanging words or smoking on the balcony and the first thing I learned during the visit was, WinteR is actually allergic to cigarettes and would run into his room whenever we smoke. The irony is ciggie feels extra good during... WinteR. YEAHHHHH! I have to, sorry.
Chenizace continued telling me some background story about Invasion-MUFC and how the two companies merged into one and Invasion-MUFC is actually a single company now, not just a sponsorship. On top of that, the team is getting sponsored by AMD, Armaggeddon and many others, so many that it covered half of the t-shirt I found randomly placed on the couch.
At 19:00 SGT, some Indian guys came knocking on the door bringing us the food Invasion-MUFC has catered for us. One by one, they brought the food in and gently placed them on the dining table. I was told that they catered for about 20 guys and as I looked around, there were only like nine of us in the room. Out with the mobile phones and everyone within the reach of the apartment are invited. About ten more guys showed up shortly after and the food was chowed down in a hurry. WinteR warned me of diarrhea and considering 48 hours have past since, I would like to inform WinteR that I am fine.
As we finish dinner, it was coincidentally time for LGD versus NeoES.Orange in the grand final of the ECL. Most players were hurdled up watching the pre-show and discussed about who they think will take the finals. Carrying the Malaysian blood, most of the players supported Orange but quickly changed their mind when they saw Mushi playing Shadow Fiend. Quoting TFG, "I have never seen Mushi win with Shadow Fiend". While I could say Orange do have a bad record with the Shadow Fiend, placing the fragile hero on the mid lane with no support is just gank-baiting.
After watching LGD tore Orange a new one, my ride and I said our goodbyes and bid the players good luck for The International 3 bootcamp. Sharky told us he was working late and we ended up not seeing him. Considering they live so close to me, I may drop by before they fly to Seattle on the 30th. I would love to visit Orange's gaming house next but I should probably wait till the return from China. They have been travelling an awful lot recently.
